Jamie’s Place is Seeking New Board Members
Our Mission
Jamie’s Place is a real home in the heart of the Methow Valley where elders, with the support
of family, community, and caregivers, can enjoy meaningful lives with dignity and grace.
Our Vision
Our vision is to meet the growing long-term care needs of all Methow Valley elders and prepare
the next generation of caregivers.
What is Jamie’s Place?
Jamie’s Place provides a ‘Home with a Heart’ for elders who need long-term care in the
Methow Valley. Skilled caregivers are trained in supporting and preserving capabilities, getting
to know what each elder needs to have a meaningful life. Jamie’s Place is known throughout
the Pacific Northwest as a thriving, loving home full of life and vitality for elders and staff.
Jamie’s Place is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we are looking for the right people to
expand our board, both in numbers and talent, and to serve as board members and advisors.

About the Board
Jamie’s Place is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors working to deliver our mission by
supporting the staff caring for elders, fundraising to ensure supplemental funding for elders
whose care is under compensated, and to plan for the increasing need for long-term care in the
Methow Valley.
While day-to-day operations are led by the Jamie’s Place Executive Director and Associate
director who oversee our capable staff ensuring high quality direct care, the Board works
closely with management to ensure all aspects of the mission are supported.
In addition to being responsible for the financial health of the organization, the Board provides
mission-based leadership, strategic governance, programmatic oversight, and fundraising
support. The Board also coordinates with a coalition of Methow Valley organizations to address
issues affecting the entire community, such as workforce training and housing.
Strategic Expansion for Jamie’s Place!
We are entering an exciting phase of growth for the organization. After 18 years of successful
operations with an occupancy of 12, we are now undertaking a major expansion that will
double our capacity to care for elders in the valley with new, upgraded facilities to be built in
Twisp. This will allow us to increase efficiencies and quality of care for our elders, and protect
the well-being of our caregiving workforce. Our new facility will include three separate but
connected houses, each home to eight elders, located just two blocks down Twisp Avenue
toward the Methow River from Glover Street in the heart of Twisp. The new facility will be built
on the shelf of land level with Methow Street.
During the last months of 2024 we purchased the property in Twisp, solicited and approved the
architect’s drawings, and secured $11 million in pledges, with an additional $5 million pledge
pending, toward the $24 million project cost. Construction will get underway in 2025.
Included in the project cost is $4 million for an initial endowment that will guarantee assistance
for at least two elders unable to afford the full cost of a room at Jamie’s Place. This is crucial,
because with this expansion Jamie’s Place will double the number of rooms reserved for
financially vulnerable elders, to six total rooms. The Board will continue to raise funds annually
for the remaining four elders who cannot afford the full cost of care.
Expectations
Each Director serves a three-year term. Meetings are held monthly on the third Monday from
4-6pm. Meetings are in-person as much as possible at locations to be determined/announced
in and around Winthrop. Directors may also participate remotely, as needed.
Directors generally serve on two standing committees and other working groups. Directors are
also expected to attend an annual all-day retreat, usually held in the fall, as well as Board-
sponsored events throughout the year.
